Staying at our campsite in Arès is also an opportunity to take full advantage of the many sporting activities on offer around the lake. A veritable open-air playground, the region offers a wide variety of activities between land and sea. From the Pasteur campsite, you have easy access to water sports and family activities, suitable for all ages and levels. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a nature lover or an outdoor enthusiast, you can discover the Arcachon basin through sport, at your own pace.

The Arcachon basin is a veritable playground for sports enthusiasts, with something for every level and taste. You’re sure to find something to suit your taste.
You can go on kayak or canoe trips to discover the unspoilt, secret sites of the Arcachon basin. You’ll have the chance to discover the local flora and fauna in a haven of peace.
Right on the ocean, on Grand Crohot beach, surf schools offer lessons for the whole family!

Just a stone’s throw from Camping Pasteur, you’ll find all you need for sailing and windsurfing lessons, as well as paddles for hire to enjoy the pool in a different way.
Throughout the season, one event follows another to introduce you to traditional boats such as sailing pinnaces. Numerous regattas are organized throughout the summer on the basin, from pinnaces to modern regatta sailboats; come to the beaches to watch them, it’s an event not to be missed.

In the family
During the school vacations, the CAP 33 center inArès offers families and young people aged 10 and over free “discovery activities” (equipment provided) through its CAP33 (from 15 years) and CAP33 Junior (10-14 years) programs: beach activities, mini-courses, sports tournaments. Detailed program available at reception or at the Tourist Office.
Swimming
St Brice: 1 km from the campsite, the natural seawater basin at St Brice (see Natural sites blog) is equipped and supervised.
Plages du Bassin: 200 m from the campsite, a pleasant beach where you can swim to the rhythm of the tides.
Plages de l’océan: 10 km away, the Grand Crohot beach is also accessible via the cycle path, and offers more thrills for wave lovers.
Boat excursions
All summer long, come and sail around Ile aux Oiseaux and its huts on stilts (the famous “cabanes tchanquées”), to the Banc d’Arguin, to the Dune du Pilat, along the oyster villages of the Cap Ferret… aboard comfortable boats belonging to the Union des Bateliers Arcachonnais. A guide is on hand to explain the history and characteristics of the Bassin.
