Less than an hour’s drive from our campsite in Arès, Bordeaux is a must for discovering the Arcachon Basin and its hinterland from a different angle. A city of art and history listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bordeaux’s elegance, its remarkable architectural heritage and its gentle way of life will win you over. Between strolls along the quays, cultural discoveries, gourmet pleasures and prestigious vineyards, the capital of Gironde offers a rich and varied getaway, ideal for combining with a nature break at our campsite.

Bordeaux, a city of art and history in the Gironde region, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Numerous themed tours are organized throughout the year on foot, by bike or in a gyropod, in the form of treasure hunts or rallies to discover the quays, the Place de la Bourse, the Grand Théâtre, the Girondins Fountain, the Place des Quinconces, the public gardens and many other tourist attractions…

The Bordeaux region is rich in land and vineyards. But its world-famous vineyards are still within easy reach. No problem. Visit the Chais, where the winemakers will be delighted to show you their trade and taste their wines.

Bordeaux is home to a dynamic cultural scene, with plenty to do. Visiting its many art galleries is the best way to learn about the city’s culture. You can visit the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, which houses an impressive collection of works by some of the world’s most famous artists. The Bassin des Lumières in particular is the place to be if you love art. Located in a former submarine base, you can discover digital exhibitions, with themes that vary according to the period.
Looking for something a little livelier? On the right bank, the Darwin eco-system district is home to a skate park, a street art area and a number of restaurants and cafés. Built in the heart of a former barracks, this is a very popular spot in Bordeaux.
Finally, while staying in Bordeaux, you can’t miss the fabulous Cité du Vin, the perfect place to discover a multitude of wines from the four corners of the world and learn more about the region’s wine history.

Exploring Bordeaux will allow you to learn more about the city’s rich history. From the emblematic Place de la Victoire to the stunning Saint-André Cathedral and the Pey Berland Tower just a few meters away, there are plenty of sites to explore.

The famous Place de la Bourse is one of the city’s most emblematic landmarks. This superb square is home to the Palais de la Bourse, a magnificent 18th-century building. It’s an ideal place to stroll and soak up the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Other landmarks include the Grand Théâtre and its famous Place de la Comédie, the Place des Quinconces and the Girondins Fountain, and the Big Bell.
Bordeaux is packed with historic sites to visit.
